Bon Iver's "Holocene" -- Song of the Day

Last night, on the 54 Annual Grammy Awards, something amazing happened -- Bon Iver won in the categories of Best New Artist and Best Alternative Album. Despite frontman Justin Vernon's pointed disinterest in the ceremony, and clear discomfort in accepting the awards, we couldn't be more proud, or excited, to see such a phenomenal indie talent rewarded for their work. It's unfortunate that, upon the band's win, there were more queries as to who they were then there were comments of excitement and pride, but Vernon has made a huge leap for the indies -- and, in many cases, the true talents -- whose incredible musicianship and work goes otherwise unnoted in the land of major award shows. In his acceptance speech for Best New Artist, Vernon made sure to note on this discrepancy:

It’s really hard to accept this award... there’s so much talent out here on the stage, and there is a lot of talent that’s not here tonight.
It’s also hard to accept, because when I started to make songs, I did it for the inherent reward of making songs, so I’m a little bit uncomfortable up here. With that discomfort, I do have a sense of gratitude. I want to say thank you to all the nominees and all the non-nominees that have never been here and never will be here.

Right on, Vernon. In celebration, please spin "Holocene"-- from the Grammy winning, self-titled album -- and do a little victory dance that at least one amazing, considerably "under the radar" band has been recognized, as so many more should.
